hello all, it seems my X marriage is a nightmare that i can never woke up from. thursday i had my divorce case in the egyptian court, and i learnt just today that i need witnesses to tistify that he was mistreating me. i cannot believe it, i really cannot, how long will i ever go on like this, not divorced and not married, not free, trapped by this stupid, silly relationship, it is as if it si a spider web that is going and going around me and i cannot come out of it, i hate him,(my x husband) i hate him for all what is happening to me now, i do hate him, and as for him, he can just go and live his life and marry anyone else if he chosses. my reliogion does not say that? why do these law people seem not to understand anything, i am tired, tired , tired, and feel desperate.

I feel for you and hope that things will get better for you.
Why are witnesses necessary to prove his mistreatment of you? Is it possible to just get a divorce in Egypt, or no?

I'm wondering if it's a cultural thing. Maybe women don't have the rights in Egypt that we're used to here, or in the UK, etc.

we gain divorce but they will have to distroy you first in order to get it.

What do you mean by that?

I'm guessing she means that women do technically have the right to divorce, but it's not made easy for them. I take the comment about destroying you to mean that the courts, the woman's estranged husband, and everyone else has to run her name through the mud, destroy any reputation she has, and make her look all-around terrible in the process before she can actually get that divorce. It's a shame it has to be that way. And, Rose, please do correct me if I've misinterpreted your last post.

Is divorce forbidden in your particular religion?

on the contrary. it is totally permicible, it is not likable, but it is perfectly ok.
